Dream Wife – FUU

Dream Wife  have today released new track ‘FUU’ featuring a guest rap appearance from Fever Dream (ex-Reykjavíkurdætur).’FUU’ is a raucous ball of energetic and grizzled guitar licks positioned against an aggressive mantra of retribution in the form of irresistibly anthemic lyrics. Premiering on i-D you can stream now.

Sleigh Bells – I Can Only Stare Video

Sleigh Bells have today shared a stunning video for their forthcoming single, “I Can Only Stare”, the music video directorial debut from the independent filmmaker Alex Ross Perry (Listen Up Philip / Queen Of Earth) along with the band’s Derek Miller.

Derek  said the following about the collaboration:
“The video follows three doomed women, all played by Alexis. It’s bleak but hopefully inspiring, too. Most of us have probably felt like one or all three of these characters at some point in time. I know I have. Making this was cathartic.

We had the privilege of working with Alex Ross Perry, one of my favorite young writer/directors, Sean Price Williams (badass Director of Photography) and a really, really great crew. Alex’s last film, Queen of Earth, was one of my favorites of 2015. There’s a tense, ominous quality to it which I hoped he would bring to the video. He did. His decision to shoot on Super 16mm film helped avoid the slick crispness we had grown tired of with digital cameras. It was a great experience. And a huge debt is owed to Robert Richardson, my favorite cinematographer. We ripped Mr. Richardson off big time for the rear projection screen performance footage.”

“I Can Only Stare” is the latest offering from forthcoming album, Jessica Rabbit, set for release on November 11th 2016.

The band have also been invited to perform for the first time on BBC2’s Later… With Jools Holland on 1st and 4th November 2016.

Brandon Can’t Dance – Smoke & Drive Around

Brandon Can’t Dance today announces his new, debut physical, album Graveyard of Good Times, to be released 13th January 2017, sharing lead single ‘Smoke & Drive Around’ as a premiere on Noisey. A truly diverse collection of songs from one of America’s most compelling new songwriters, Graveyard of Good Times is as cathartic and melancholic as it is sardonic and playful.

Self-produced between summer 2015 and winter 2016, the album was recorded between shifts working nights as a security guard and looking after his grandmother, who he lives with alongside his mother and sister.

Brandon has been performing music since he was eleven years old, previously playing as one half of cult duo Rasputin’s Secret Police. Brandon now performs live completely solo, along with a slew of loops, samples and effects. On November 1st, he will set off on tour in the US with longtime confidant Alex G and Sub Pop’s LVL UP.

Graveyard of Good Times is released 13th January 2017 and is available to pre-order now: Rough Trade | Bandcamp

Hinds – Deluxe Album and Bamboo Animation

Hinds today announce a deluxe version of their debut LP. Not only featuring b-sides and rarities, Leave Me Alone Deluxe offers a unique and never-before-seen peek into the world of Hinds with cell phone demos. These demos – which were never meant to be heard by anyone but Hinds – give fans an exclusive look into the band’s song-writing process as they created their critically acclaimed, perfectly imperfect debut. Leave Me Alone Deluxe will be released on October 28th on double CD and Vinyl only. Pre-order the album now via Rough Trade, or the band’s webstore.

To celebrate the announcement Hinds are also sharing a brand new animated video for “Bamboo.” Directed by Laurina Paperina, the video’s deceptively cute illustrations bely a hilariously dark, devious tale of rampant mischief from our four favourite Madrileñas.

Hinds will shortly be playing their biggest live shows to date, including a show at Kentish Town Forum in London.

Dream Wife – Lolita Video

Dream Wife today share the video for ‘Lolita’, directed by Sam Boullier and Eleanor Hardwick.   Premiered on The FADER, the video sees the band explore a favourite genre, horror.  As the band explain:

“The idea for the video came from a distaste toward the classic virginal female victim narrative, the damsel in distress scenario. The intention was to make something both playful and angry, toying with many conventional horror movie moments in an unconventional, empowering, silly and scary way.  Using a found footage aesthetic Sam and Eleanor wove together a series of tableaus in which we inhabit roles of the good and the bad, the villain and the victim, satirizing the archetype of the female horror victim.”
