Ivey: Scream
Australian Gold Coast five-piece IVEY have revealed their latest single, ‘Scream’, a bright-yet-melancholic dancefloor anthem. ‘Scream’ is the lead track from their forthcoming debut EP, due out early 2020, which sees the young band team up with Australian producer du-jour Konstantin Kersting (Tones & I, Body Type).
“‘Scream’ is about realizing that you’re at a low point, and trying to overcome adversity, even if it’s hard and even if it’s painful,” the band explain.
It’s happy and sad, fiery and independent but vulnerable and heart-rending, joyous even when in pain. An emotive delivery gives the song a visceral quality, but with a pop sensibility that makes you want to head out in search of a dancefloor. Even if the dancefloor is in your bedroom. It’s officially a ‘sad banger’!
