Sunflower Bean – Twentytwo

Sunflower Bean (Julia Cumming, Jacob Faber, Nick Kivlen) will release their second album in a few weeks, and today they share an incredible, pageant-themed music video for their latest single “Twentytwo,” a song with a powerful and enduring message about resilience and pushing back against expectations.

Director Olivia Bee explains: “I loved metaphorically speaking about the reality of being a woman, but letting that reality exist whilst tapping into the magical blues of Twentytwo in Blue. This song showcases our strengths and individual beauties when we remove the masks that have been given to us by our society, and I wanted the video to reflect that.”

Sunflower Bean will release Twentytwo in Blue on March 23rd -- Pre-order HERE.  Watch the video via Urban Outfitters below.

Middle Kids - Mistake (Official Video)

Middle Kids made a powerful debut last year with the release of their internationally acclaimed self-titled EP, featuring singles “Edge of Town” and “Your Love”. The band dazzled at several SXSW and The Great Escape showcases, made their U.S. television debut on Conan and supported legendary acts like Ryan Adams and The War On Drugs.

The new album, Lost Friends, is the kind of album that sucker-punches you in the gut, revealing its nuances only after repeated listens. The songs’ edges are jagged, the production clean, stray imperfections imbue warmth and a human touch. Middle Kids craft classic hooks and riffs that tangle up in your brain like licorice and choruses that linger long after the song has faded. And they’ve bonded over a greater sense of what their music should accomplish.

“In a time where a lot of division is growing, we want to be part of the conversation that unites people around certain ideals that are universal, like hope and love,” says Hannah Joy. “That’s so much a thread throughout this album: Even though things are tough, it’s worth believing in something good and in the idea that we can heal. And in some ways, I wanted the music to be beautiful and a respite from what’s going on.”

Hinds – I Don’t Run + New For You

Hinds - New For You

Hinds – Carlotta Cosials, Ana Perrote, Ade Martin and Amber Grimbergen – have announced their long-awaited second record I Don’t Run. Out April 6 the new album shows a bigger, better, faster, funnier, more dexterous Hinds. Co-produced by the band and Gordon Raphael [The Strokes], and mixed by Shawn Everett [Alabama Shakes, The War On Drugs], I Don’t Run is the product of a band fighting for their place, a band unwilling to rely upon their successes, a band who have just begun to prove themselves, and a band who plays hard but works even harder. Pre-order I Don’t Run HERE.

Hinds also announce tour dates today – this April they will bring I Don’t Run and their insanely fun live show across Europe. You can find a show near you and get your tickets HERE.

To celebrate the announce, Hinds also share I Don’t Run’s first single, “New For You”, with a music video that sees the band dominate the fútbol field.

Of their self-directed music video Cosials says: “I thought it cannot be more Spanish (football) and that it cannot be more a male sport, and that it is good to present a different gender-reality without even trying hard. I think sports are such a good metaphor with life, with goals, passion and suffer.”

Dream Wife – Hey Heartbreaker Video

Dream Wife - Hey Heartbreaker (Official Music Video)

Dream Wife are gearing up to the release of their long-awaited self-titled debut album, which will be released on January 26th. Today, they share new single ‘Hey Heartbreaker’ alongside an incredible video animated and directed by Joe Prytherch, more widely known by his moniker Mason London and his role as the former art director of Boiler Room.  The video was premiered by i-D.

Envisioning a dystopian near-future depicting the band as robot performers held in a sleazy bar against their will, Prytherch’s imaginative direction and distinct art style is stunning. Taking loose inspiration from Anime, and the acclaimed Akira, the Robo-Dream Wife’s performance and breakneck escape offers a substantive and incredibly cinematic music video.

Dream Wife comment on the video:

“We were super excited to work with Mason London to bring the world of Hey! Heartbreaker to life. Collaboration is integral in our approach to Dream Wife, and we encourage different creative ideas and paths to mix with our own vision.

It’s uncanny to watch these mechanical, parallel versions of ourselves rock out and then break out. We like to think that in another reality our robot versions are continuing their adventures; perhaps in the forest, perhaps plotting for a robot revolution, perhaps playing wild, secret rock shows to other robos”.

The band are also excited to announce an intimate launch show on album release day at the Sebright Arms in London, exclusive to fans signed up to their mailing list, as well as a free in-store at Rough Trade East. Following which the band will head off to Australia and then a full UK and European tour, which will include their biggest headline show to-date at London’s Heaven.
