Nardeydey – Speedial

Excited to introduce our latest writer signing – Shirley Tetteh, aka Nardeydey.  Even among all the young talents on the rise from London’s incredible new jazz scene, Shirley stands out as a true don.  She is a guitarist of high renown (she has played in live bands for Anderson. Paak and Little Simz) and is a key member of the all-star, all-women’s ensemble Nérija (recently signed to Domino Records w-wide), and the spiritual-jazz big-band Maisha. She is also, herself, a fabulous alt-pop singer-songwriter – and her first single, under the solo name Nardeydey, is out now.  From the opening bars of “Speedial” you will hear a unique musical intelligence that marks Nardeydey as a special artist. The breezy melodic lines snake towards a yearning harmonic bridge with a narrative nod to Laurel Canyon, meanwhile, complex polyrhythms purr along in support, tickling the brain with their unusual complexity. “a punch bowl brew of a song: a little Italo disco here, a little post-punk there; the aesthetics here are a little all over the place, but in a great way.” Pitchfork

Middle Kids – Salt Eyes

Middle Kids have shared a brand new track “Salt Eyes”. This compelling new single was recorded in Ryan Adams’ Los Angeles studio during their American tour earlier in the year, and is yet another display of their knack for haunting hooks and lyrical poignancy that ooze irresistible indie rock appeal. The trackfollows hot on the heels of debut album Lost Friends, which was released this May.

Hannah, from Middle Kids, explains:“Salt Eyes is when you get those red-dry-eyes after a big cry. Sometimes we try to live large but actually it makes us feel small. Salt Eyes is what we get when we’re searching for freedom but haven’t found it yet.”

Middle Kids will open for Bloc Party on their forthcoming Silent Alarm Arena tour before headlining their own UK and European Tour in November.  All dates and tickets are HERE.

Darwin Deez – Say It First Video

After recently releasing his fourth studio album, Darwin Deez today shares his first self-directed music video for his latest single, “Say It First”. It’s another incredibly clever addition to his existing catalogue of renowned and highly original videos. Darwin himself says:

“My favourite music video ideas are usually ripped off from 90’s feature films. My video for Free (The Editorial Me) developed from my idea to rip off Groundhog Day. This one didn’t directly come from Multiplicity but it’s similar. Guy clones self to deal with romance, hijinks ensue. I wrote and self-directed for the first time, and I also did the edit. My cousin shot it and hooked us up with the producer Molly who made it all happen.”

Watch the new video below, and also make sure to check out the recently released House Show Tour documentary HERE. The album, entitled 10 Songs That Happened When You Left Me With My Stupid Heart, is out now buy it HERE.

Darwin Deez is currently on tour in Europe, with full UK and US schedules to follow – see all shows and get your tickets HERE.

Darwin Deez – The House Show Tour

The new album from Darwin Deez, entitled 10 Songs That Happened When You Left Me With My Stupid Heart, is out now. To celebrate the release Darwin has shared a 25 minute documentary entitled The House Show Tour.

Darwin Deez - The House Show Tour

In the Summer of 2017, having just delivered final mixes of his new album and faced with a period of downtime, Darwin reached out to his Twitter followers, tweeting an offer to play fans homes / garages / basements / whatever for $160, just to see what would happen.

The result was a full fan to artist directly organised DIY tour across the US, with two of his band mates, playing both new songs and fan favourites. At the first show on the tour Darwin met Eric, from Sound It Out Films, who was sold by the romance of the idea and offered to document the remaining dates, from the genuinely humiliating lows to the triumphant highs.  It’s a must watch!

Middle Kids – Found Friends

Following the recent release of their debut album, ‘Lost Friends’, Middle Kids have now launched Found Friends which brings the charm of Mix-tape culture into the modern age by creatively utilising Spotify’s technology to match fans, and their playlists, with each other wherever they may be.

We made our album Lost Friends with the intention to help listeners further discover what is true and beautiful about the world and its people. To us, the phrase Lost Friends mourns lost connections but also reveres the very human desire for relationship. We are thankful for the bonds that music creates for us and want you to feel a little more connected by music, too.”
