Charly Bliss – New Signing, Album and Video

Charly Bliss - Capacity [Official Music Video]

We are thrilled to today announce a new signing,  NYC’s wonderful Charly Bliss (Eva Hendricks, Sam Hendricks, Spencer Fox and Dan Shure),  and also announce their highly anticipated new album, Young Enough, with a video for its lead single “Capacity

Charly Bliss’ Eva Hendrickssays “‘Capacity’ is a song about wanting to kill your inner people-pleaser, and Michelle beautifully presented a parallel concept, which warns of the perils of getting swept up in other people’s bullshit.

Video director Michelle Zauner of Japanese Breakfast, says: “Charly Bliss has always made great narrative music videos, so I wanted to stay in line with that tradition and take advantage of working with a band that are all such great, funny actors individually. I was watching a lot of heist movies at the time, and I thought a sort of post-heist fall out between friends was the perfect setting for this song about reaching your limit with someone. Eva had an amazing mood board she brought to the table with references to Paris, Texas, Five Easy Pieces and Badlands so it was important for us to showcase a warm, 70’s colour palette.”

Young Enough is available for pre-order now and due out May 10th.  The band have also announced UK and European dates:

3 May Amsterdam, Netherlands  – Cinetol
4 May Hamburg, Germany – Hafenklang
5 May Berlin, Germany  – Cassiopeia
7 May Paris, France  – La Boule Noire
9 May Manchester, UK  – Night People
10 May Leeds, UK  – Headrow House
13 May London, UK – Oslo

Ratso – Our Lady of Light (ft. Nick Cave)

NYC author/writer/actor Larry “Ratso” Sloman has collaborated with some of the most dynamic figures in pop culture from Bob Dylan, Lou Reed, John Cale and Leonard Cohen. Ratso also wrote the best-selling memoirs for Howard Stern, Anthony Kiedis and more. Now at 70, Ratso today announces debut LP ‘Stubborn Heart‘ out 5th April and shares first single “Our Lady of Light” featuring Nick Cave.

Ratso explains, “If you would have told me when I was covering Dylan’s Rolling Thundertour for Rolling Stone Magazine that forty-four years later, I would be releasing my first album I would have laughed and asked for a hit of whatever it was you were smoking. Guess I’ll take that hit now.”

Take a listen to Ratso’s debut single below and read more about the forthcoming album here.

Nardeydey – FreeFalling

Nardeydey, AKA Shirley Tetteh, is an important guitarist of the New Jazz scene; a founding member of the fast rising all-female collective Nérija, playing in spiritual jazz big band Maisha and even having won a Parliamentary Jazz Award in 2018 for Best Newcomer. But more than just a guitar virtuoso, Shirley is a songwriter of some genius too.

Her new single “Freefalling”, which was premiered on The FADER today, reinforces that notion, again weaving multiple feels and techniques into an unusually amazing whole. The song kicks off with a funky Joni Mitchell melodicism, replete with her glowing gospel harmony style. Then it drops into an electro-pop hybrid synth passage before turning on a dime into an extended RnB harmonic bridge complete with a surprise Prince solo (in miniature). It’s a thrilling 03:28 of unclassifiable pop music.

Sunflower Bean – King of the Dudes EP

New York Trio Sunflower Bean (Julia Cumming, Jacob Faber, Nick Kivlen) have announced a new EP entitled ‘King Of The Dudes’. To celebrate the announcement, they share the first single “Come For Me” (premiered by Radio 1’s Annie Mac as the  ‘Hottest Record In The World’).

Julia explains,This song was inspired by inner strength, power, and sexual freedom. In 2018 there is no time to waste and no time for shame. This song is a declaration of that. Do you really want to come for me? Do you really want to waste my time? The song is a dare, a threat, and a beckoning.”

The EP, produced by Justin Raisen (Sky Ferreira, Charlie XCX, Angel Olsen) and released on January 25th, 2019, follows on from the release of their second album Twentytwo in Blue earlier this year.

The band add, “This EP does not give a fuck, it’s reactionary, and a sharpened response to our times. Death, birth, aggression, addiction, and power. Twentytwo In Blue allowed us to find our strength and on King Of The Dudes we use it, no holds barred.”

Hinds – British Mind

Hinds have had a action-packed 2018 – they released their second album I Don’t Run back in April to rapturous reviews;  the charisma and charm of their debut remained entirely intact whilst the band’s sound widened in scope and depth.  Since then they have toured across the globe and played at some of the best festivals in the summer calendar,  sharing their inimitable live to exuberant audiences.

Tickets HEREYou can watch the sun soaked accompanying video for “British Mind” below, which sees the band making the most of roadside,  gas station limbo and in true Hinds tradition it fizzes with energy and a damn good time.
