We are very excited to introduce you to Our Mother a Tottenham-based four-piece consisting of John Hartley, Paul Kowalewski, Liam Garrett and Joseph Charlton.
We will be releasing their debut ‘A.O.B’ EP, on April 29th, 2016. Super limited to just 300 copies worldwide, pressed on Heavyweight vinyl with a free download code – it can be pre-ordered here.
The first track to be taken from the EP is “Surprise Machine”, a Wurlitzer ride of a track, hurling the listener headfirst into their idiosyncratic world. What initially begins as a brooding and subtle late night jam quickly explodes into an addictive chorus augmented with a flurrying, waltzing trumpet. Hartley’s pitch-shifted vocals singing ambiguous yet sinister-leaning lyrics that become an instrument in themselves – another cog operating in Our Mother’s complex and fascinating machine. The band themselves describe the track as “a techno-pop song made of indiscernible instrumentation. Eno ambience, myriad horns and digital horsepower work as axles and pistons to power a vehicle of both repetition and unexpectedness.”
