Sleigh Bells – Young Legends (Jam City Mix)

Night Slugs’ signed Jack ‘Jam City‘ Latham has always been a man of quality not quantity. Over the last year he’s been producing for Kelela’s celebrated ‘Cut 4 Me’ mix tape, as well as recently dropping his own ‘Earthly II‘ mix. Always drawing from the wider aspects of ambience JC creates a raw atmosphere for Sleigh Bells ‘Young Legends’ which juxtaposes the soulful harmonic lead of Alexis Krauss with twisted pitch-shifting and an icy industrial musical palette to create extra excitement with a stripped-back aesthetic. ‘Young Legends’ will shortly be the second single to be lifted from the ‘Bitter Rivals‘ album.

FTSE – Nite Life Video

We are delighted to present to you FTSE’s video for “Nite Life (ft Femme)”, the lead track from his forthcoming EP, directed by Miles Bingham and inspired by the work of photographer, Maciej Dakowicz, and his Cardiff After Dark portraits.

These weekend night scenes are on any high street on any City in the UK; fuelled by cheap alcohol, drugs and emotions.  Everything takes place in public – drinking, fighting, kissing, crying, sex and, when energy is exhausted, sleeping. Supermen chat up Wonderwomen, somebody does press-ups topless in the rain, the hungry ones finish their portions of chips before the police stop another argument or fight. Nobody seems to worry about tomorrow, what matters is here and now. Then another week at work, until the next weekend.

‘Nite Life’s sound-scapes perfectly capture the dark brooding atmosphere found in these high street scenes.  “Empty people, stumbling through the night, Empty people, avoiding real life”.

Caged Animals – The Overnight Coroner

Caged Animals have released a new EP called ‘The Overnight Coroner‘. It is a four-song EP accompanied by a 35 minute audio long-form short story. A unique combination of narrative writing and songwriting into a single package which, we believe, has never been done before.

“I walked in the door and found him sprawled out on the carpet; the cops were the first on the scene and his son (who I’d met the week before) looked up at me wordlessly. I was holding two D-sized tanks of Oxygen and a delivery slip that was never going to get signed. This was one of my departing memories from the year I spent working as a courier of Medical Oxygen in Staten Island, NYC.”

As far as dramatic openings go, it’s difficult to top this. Vincent Cacchione spent a year as a medical courier, spending his days working in extremely challenging situations and his nights pouring his feelings into music. The body of work that resulted from these experiences veered in two clear directions:  The character-driven song structures which he has collected as The Overnight Coroner and the more spiritually tuned pop of second-album In The Land Of Giants, which was released Sept 13. This is country-influenced music for digital ears.   You can stream the entire release below, read the story here and buy physically or digitally.

Caged Animals – The Overnight Coroner Attends A Party

Clash today premiered the new Caged Animals video for ‘The Overnight Coroner Attends A Party‘ the lead track, and a wonderfully unusual narrative based song, from the forthcoming concept EP. The EP also incorporates a 40K word novella written about a young man who works the graveyard shift in a city morgue. What? Caged Animals will be playing London on Tuesday February 4th at the Sebright Arms. This will be a magical night, you should come.

Eyedress – Teen Spirits

Eyedress has just premiered the video for new single ‘Teen Spirits‘ with Noisey. He told Noisey that “The video was filmed at my place in Manila and at an empty townhouse unit my friends let me borrow. The theme of the video is cheating and losing your innocence. It goes along with the theme of the song – true love and the idea of soul mates. The idea that you follow your soul mate into the next life and love them forever. Everlasting love.” Eyedress will be making his London debut on Friday February 21st at the Sebright Arms.
