Momma – Rodeo

Ahead of this Friday’s release of their highly anticipated new album Welcome to My Blue Sky, Momma have shared their new single “Rodeo” alongside a Richard Phillip Smith-directed video.

The track channels frustration and longing—a tension perfectly echoed in its pummeling riffs, staccato drum beats, and indelibly sweet vocal delivery. “This song is written from the perspective of two people we kind of left behind, romantically. It’s our attempt at honoring their stories by tapping into the feeling of being replaced by someone else. We made the video with Richard Smith, who had the idea to put us on an ice rink and have someone skating around us, with a bull chasing her. It’s supposed to replicate the idea of being in the center of the ring of a rodeo, and feeling like someone is doing laps around you and you just can’t keep up,” songwriters/vocalists/guitarists Allegra Weingarten and Etta Friedman explain.

Last week, Momma – recently named artists to watch by The New York Times – made their late night television debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live! with an electrifying performance of “I Want You (Fever)”, a song that is rising up the US Alternative & AAA radio, which you can watch here.

Momma will embark on a headlining US tour later this month, with three already sold-out shows at their biggest venues to date. The band are set to perform in the EU and UK later this year with shows at Primavera Sound (Barcelona and Porto) and Outbreak Festival (London and Manchester) in June, and more dates to follow this Autumn. Momma – Bottle Blonde

Momma have today shared their new single “Bottle Blonde”, the latest preview of their highly anticipated forthcoming album, Welcome to My Blue Sky, due out April 4th.

Beginning with a skipping breakbeat, Momma fuse delicate electronics with their beautiful melodies, creating a tangible sense of nostalgia across the track. The song is paired with a video directed by the band which collages together behind-the-scenes tour footage. The video dovetails perfectly with the song’s message of celebrating Etta Friedman and Allegra Weingarten’s enduring friendship.

The band say, “We wrote this song as a letter to our past selves, when we were 23 and 24, stumbling through an extremely grueling tour that ended up taking a huge toll on our hearts and minds,” explain Friedman and Weingarten. “We both had bleached hair and were in the midst of making huge decisions that would change our lives and also our perceptions of ourselves. The song started out as kind of an affirmation to our younger selves that everything would be ok if you just follow your heart, but now looking back on it the lyrics could also be read as us talking to each other.

“Bottle Blonde” follows two album singles–the euphoric “I Want You (Fever)” and punchy “Ohio All The Time”. Momma will embark on their biggest US headlining tour to date this spring, before performing at Primavera Sound and Outbreak festivals this summer. All tour dates and tickets on their website.

Momma – Welcome to My Blue Sky + I Want You (Fever)

Brooklyn-based Momma today announced their highly anticipated new album Welcome to My Blue Sky will be released April 4th, 2025. The band have also shared the euphoric lead single “I Want You (Fever)”, supported by a Jaxon Whittington-directed video. Welcome To My Blue Sky is the follow-up to their critically acclaimed 2022 album Household Name, which saw Momma become one of the best new bands to watch.

“I Want You (Fever)” is indicative of the highly detailed, inventive and visceral sounds on display across Welcome To My Blue Sky. The track was a breakthrough moment for Momma, ushering in a new era for the band, where autobiographical snapshots are paired with widescreen songwriting and irresistible hooks.

Momma - I Want You (Fever) (Music Video)

‘I Want You (Fever)’ is a song we wrote about wanting to be with someone who has a girlfriend, or someone who isn’t over their ex,” explains the band. “It’s pining after someone, but there’s also some confidence knowing that that person wants to be with you. The second we wrote that song we felt like we were entering a new era – we scrapped everything we had written for the album up to that point because it felt so fresh and so exciting.

Momma – Etta Friedman (songwriter/vocalist/guitarist), Allegra Weingarten (songwriter/vocalist/guitarist), Aron Kobayashi Ritch (producer/bassist), and Preston Fulks (drummer) – have also been announced as part of the line-ups for this year’s editions of Outbreak festival and Primavera Sound, as well as confirming a full US tour for Welcome To My Blue Sky. Late last year the band provided the first official taste of the album with the release of “Ohio All The Time” which laid the foundation of what is sure to be an exceptional 2025 for the band. Stay tuned for more news.

Momma – Ohio All The Time

Momma today usher in an exciting new chapter with the release of their irresistible single “Ohio All The Time” and its accompanying Zack Shorrosh-directed music video. Imbued with the punchy effervescence of early-aughts alt-pop, “Ohio All The Time” finds the Brooklyn-based band reminiscing on a nostalgic time.

We wrote it about a summer when we were on tour, and it felt like everything in our lives changed within a one-month span,” they explain. “We wanted the video to capture that youthful feeling, like the world is brand new and everything is ahead of you. We went upstate to our friend’s house near Hudson to film, and just spent the whole day goofing off and running around.

The release follows last night’s hometown co-headline show with Blondshell at Baby’s All Right as part of Spotify’s MARROW Presents showcase series. The past two years have seen Momma emerge as one of the most exciting new bands in rock. Produced by Kobayashi Ritch “Ohio All The Time” is their first release of original new music since 2023’s acclaimed single “Bang Bang”, which earned support from Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, Stereogum, Paste, NYLON, and more. Momma have since made a triumphant Coachella debut and played shows with Alex G, Pavement, and Wet Leg, among others. They have also since been guests on Amoeba’s What’s In My Bag? and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’s #LateShowMeMusic series, performing “Rockstar” off their critically lauded 2022 album Household Name.

Momma / Narrow Head – Sunday / Medicine

Kindred spirits Momma and Narrow Head are thrilled to cover each other’s recent singles, “Medicine” and “Sunday”. “Momma is one of those bands that we were hooked on immediately, we would play ‘Medicine’ at soundcheck all of the time,” Narrow Head comment. Momma say, “We’ve both been big fans of each other’s bands for a while. A year or so ago the idea was floated around about doing a cover of each other’s songs. When Jacob [Narrow Head guitarist/vocalist] sent Allegra a video of them covering ‘Medicine’ during soundcheck, we were like, OK we have to actually do this.

Sunday / Medicine” is streaming now across all digital retailers via Lucky Number, while 7” singles will be released by the bands’ respective American labels Polyvinyl & Run for Cover on December 1st.

“Rockstar” - Momma

Both bands have had breakthrough years. Their Narrow Head cover follows their spring single “Bang Bang” and an incredibly busy year on the road, including their Coachella debut in April and tours supporting Wet Leg, Death Cab For Cutie, Weezer, Modest Mouse, and a full UK and EU tour with Alex G. Produced by Aron Kobayashi Ritch and mastered by Grammy-winning engineer Emily Lazar, Household Name earned the alt-rock breakouts critical acclaim from Pitchfork (Album of the Day review), SPIN, The FADER, Consequence, NME, NPR, Rolling Stone, NYLON (‘Momma is Indie Rock’s Next Big Thing’), Stereogum, FLOOD (‘Breaking’), Paste, Kerrang!, CLASH, Alternative Press, and many others.

Narrow Head’s latest album Moments of Clarity (Run For Cover) has earned an array of praise for its masterful and fresh mixture of pop, grunge and shoegaze by the likes of Guitar World, Pitchfork, Stereogum, UPROXX, Paste (“one of today’s best pop bands”), Revolver (“reigning kings of shoegazy grunge”), Kerrang!, Decibel, Consequence, Alternative Press and more.
