Jessica Winter - L.O.V.E.

On “L.O.V.E.”, Jessica Winter creates a vibrant pop anthem that channels 00’s aesthetics and addictive dance-pop beats which is sure to become an all-time classic. Relentlessly inventive, with her new single Jessica does what she has done for her whole career and takes a multitude of influences and stamps her unique, unmistakable ‘Jessica Winter’ sound across them. The accompanying video was inspired by Bob Fosse’s seminal 1983 film, Star 80, and sees Jessica undergoing a photoshoot in the backdrop of her home.

Speaking about ‘L.O.V.E.’, Jessica Winter said:

I wrote this song a year before realising I was a codependent; sometimes my music knows more than I do… I wanted to capture the feeling of being infatuated at the beginning of the song but by the end it inevitably falls deeper and finishes with soaring strings; the sound of falling in love to me. I wanted to release ‘L.O.V.E.’ first as I’ve been looking at love differently and how I define it since learning and doing work on codependency. Spelling out the word sounds so innocent, and it is. I’m just breaking it down to try and understand it. A musical reference was a compilation CD called Chilled Ibiza which me and my brother would listen to most summer holidays growing up.

Jessica Winter – Limerence EP + Funk This Up

Today Jessica Winter announces her new EP Limerence, out February 10th 2023 on limited edition 12″ vinyl and all digital platforms. The announcement is accompanied by the release of new single, “Funk This Up“, the second track from the EP after the acclaimed “Choreograph”.

On “Funk This Up”, Winter shows her versatility as an artist as she pivots from the more cinematic aesthetics of “Choreograph”, and favours a more raucous, dance-heavy approach. Grounded within her unique, unmistakable style, Winter delves into everything from synth-pop to punk and 80’s glam.

Limerence was written during a time when I was trying to understand my relationship to love and my behaviours around it.” says Jessica; “Love confuses me so much and I think this EP demonstrates that.

Directed by Ella Margolin and shot on VHS, the “Funk This Up” music video is an extension of Winter’s artistic vision and is testimony to her ability to create art that speaks for itself.

Speaking about “Funk This Up”, Jessica said: “This song began as a conversation with myself… the verses being in the present and reacting to the choruses where I embody the more deranged temptress luring me into the depths of addiction and chaos.

The video captures two versions of the addict, the version that tries to stay balanced and together and the version that falls from the centre. We used different forms of distortion on the face and body and more extreme performance to capture the temptress.

We’re thrilled to announce the signing of the wonderful Jessica Winter. As well as previously releasing two fantastic EPs, Winter has also lent her talents as a producer and writer to a host of other high-calibre artists including The Big Moon, Jazmin Bean, Phoebe Green and our very own Walt Disco.

With an artistic imagination heavily influenced by a wealth of styles including synth-pop, punk, and 80’s glam – the latter inspired by her 80’s glamour model mother – Winter is unwavering in her artistic approach to song-writing and visual aesthetics.

Plus, we have also released “Choreograph“, her first single of 2022. Speaking about the new single, Jessica says, “Choreograph was born out of frustration, and from the desire to fully experience life and love in the present moment.” The track’s music video, directed by James Ogram, draws inspiration from the iconic 1952 film Singin’ In The Rain.
