Hinds – San Diego + Album Launch Party

Hinds today release another infectious shot of musical serotonin with their forthcoming single “San Diego”, a gorgeous slice of two and a half minute pop which shows the four piece’s ridiculously effortless way with an addictive hook and harmonized vocal. It’s equal parts Ty Segall and Black Lips, Phil Spector and The Shirelles, but, in the final analysis, utterly and wholly Hinds.

Hinds on “San Diego”: “we all have bad days. we mean bad nights. one day a friend told us ‘I don’t wanna fall asleep because I know what’s the dream about.’ this song is about staying awake. just staying awake.”

Hinds will also play two very special, wristband only, launch events to celebrate the release of “Leave Me Alone” on January 11th 2016, at Rough Trade East, followed immediately by another show and party at the Ace Hotel, in conjunction with Sister Ray.

Hinds – Garden Video and European Tour

Hinds today unveil the official video for their current single, and album opener, “Garden”. Directed by Pedro Martin-Calero, and filmed in Madrid, the video was inspired by French New Wave pioneer Jean-Luc Godard and his 1965 feature film Pierrot Le Fou.  The story of a young couple “trying to get away to nowhere”, it features all members of the band playing the same character, with a strong use of colour and experimental imagery the video is surreal and surprising – as premiered via i-D.  In the band’s own words:

“Garden is the first track of our album. It is our favourite song and we say it proudly. This is the first time we got to choose the director of a music video ourselves, so it was an honour when Pedro Martin-Calero said yes. He is a genius and we did everything he wanted – except for the chicken, that was a thing we begged for haha”

Garden” is another gorgeously compact slice of ramshackle indie pop, which premiered last month on BBC Radio 1 with Huw Stephens and is currently play-listed at 6Music. The debut album, Leave Me Alone, out 8th Jan 2016, also includes recent #1 Hype Machine single “Chili Town.” and you can pre-order the album now via iTunes, direct from the band or via Rough Trade.

The band will also be touring heavily in support of Leave Me Alone, and you can find the newly announced European tour dates below.

Hinds – Davey Crockett Video and UK Tour

Hinds offer fans another glimpse into their gloriously raucous, sweetly playful world, in the form of a double music video/ short film for their cover of “Davey Crockett” and The Parrots’ cover of “All My Loving”, which was released earlier this year for Record Store Day as a split 7 inch single.

Directed by Marc Oller, and produced by CANADA, the video is a potent shot of youthful effervescence, with an enthusiasm that is as intoxicating as it is deeply infectious.

Hinds and The Parrots spoke to Pitchfork about the making of the video: “we are 7 dudes born and raised in madrid and we’ve been friends since ever; we’ve lived from our puberty years to currently issues like not having money to pay the rent or recoding our firsts albums. we did a split 7” vinyl with two covers of songs we both usually end our gigs with because we love them. so suddenly the idea of shooting a movie with CANADA (our music-videos-educator) was kind of a dream. plus, this one is the first not-home-made-music-video for both bands. Felt great. But keep the budget low”.

Hinds will also be embarking on a UK tour, taking in some of their biggest venues yet, including London’s KOKO. See below for full tour dates.  Tickets for all shows will go on general sale this Friday 2nd October.
