Hinds: San Diego
Is there really any doubt left that Hinds are one of the best and brightest new acts of the year?
Let’s review the facts. They have played raucous, sold-out headlining shows in the UK, Europe and the U.S, where they just wrapped a massive tour, and recently performed at Pitchfork Paris and Iceland Airwaves. They have captured the adulation and adoration of the press and public alike with singles such as “Bamboo”, “Chili Town” and “Garden”, and promise to win over even more when they unleash their debut LP “Leave Me Alone” next year. And they are constantly winning new fans at radio, with early support coming from Radio One, 6Music and Beats1.
Now, they release another infectious shot of musical serotonin with their new single “San Diego”, a gorgeous slice of two and a half minute pop which shows the four piece’s ridiculously effortless way with an addictive hook and harmonized vocal. It’s equal parts Ty Segall and Black Lips, Phil Spector and The Shirelles, but, in the final analysis, utterly and wholly Hinds.
