Hinds + The Parrots: Split#1
We are delighted to announce a Record Store Day exclusive split covers 7” from close friends, and fellow Madrid based bands, Hinds and The Parrots.
Hinds have tackled Thee Headcoats cult classic, and their favored live set closer, “Davey Crockett (Gabba Hey)” which has been recorded and produced with Árni Árnason of the Vaccines. Whilst The Parrots take on “All My Loving”, a garage-gospel gem by The Almighty Defenders (King Khan and The Black Lips’ side project) and make it their own.
Hinds, the band formerly known as Deers, have been described “as Europe’s most exciting new band” by the NME, and are Ana Garcia Perrote, Carlotta Cosials, Ade Martin and Amber Grimbergen. The band’s loose and lo-fi charm is inspired by their undying love for contemporary American garage rock icons such as Mac DeMarco and Ty Segall. Ending 2014 atop many ‘ones to watch’ lists, following two long sold out 7” releases and their joyously received live shows, they certainly have kicked off 2015 with a bang with a 15 date sold-out European headline tour already under their belts, and international festival announcements galore.
The Parrots are the freshest arrival to the garage-punk scene, and are currently working their way across Europe with their energetic live show and a danceable, highly melodic take on garage-surf-rock, California style. The Parrots are Diego García, Alex de Lucas and Dani Lorenzo and after a sold out show in London this February they are due to announce some exciting EP release plans very soon.
In their own words the two bands describe the connection between them as: “We are seven kids. We are friends. We are from Madrid. We always carry a knife in our pockets and we are a gang.”
