Lucky Number Philosophy
Why Lucky Number?
Well the phrase 'Lucky Number' came from one
of those numerous discussions you have with colleagues in the music
business about another of those "buzz"
bands. One of those bands where labels get very excited & where
the business winds itself up again, each label being somewhat more
excited by the fact that each of them are in such fierce competition
than they are by the sounds emanating from the stereo. The money
being discussed between band, manager, lawyer & multiple companies
reaches the point where it is like pulling large ("lucky")
numbers out of a hat & hoping for the best. The phrase seemed
to fit.
Without trying to get all pretentious we did think about the name
a number of times before we committed to it & found a few more
reasons why it fitted the way we both thought about our music. Hence,.....
There is a strange but special reason why almost every one of
us has a special feeling about our favourite 'lucky'
number, whether it's a reference to something special that happened
to us, or because somebody special happened to us, or when they
were born, or we were born or whatever. The basic rationale behind
our label is that we hope, in each of our releases to create a special
recording or "number", (as they
often introduce songs as at gigs), which in some indefinable way
feels special, or lucky, for us & for you.
We're not concerned with genre, hence the music
we're talking about is kind of indefinable in this way. It's
just important that it sounds great, sounds special & feels
lucky!
We hope you'll feel the same way about Keith,
Sebastien Tellier, Jake
Bullit, Seventeen
Evergreen, Gotye
& hopefully more as the list grows...but not too quickly. Now
it's up to you to let us know!
